Some pics to share..

The Place

Food we ordered satay, chicken briyani and murtabak

For the taste, out of 10, we give 7.5/10. Place & environment 8/10. Cleanliness 9/10. Service & staff 8/10. Family friendly 8/10. Overall Great place to be!

Trip to the World Heritage City.. Melaka March 13

Personally, Melaka trip was great. From the journey, the rented villa, card games, movie screening, the food to the family gathering, everything was awesome. The lacking part for me was just the pool, but overall, it did not kill the spirit of togetherness and happy moments among us. It was a birthday celebration, lepak-lepak, gaming and cooking time, all in one package trip. Let me share some of the places and great food that we had while we were in Melaka.

Seafood dinner at Medan Ikan Bakar Muara Sg. Duyung was the second night outing. This place is better than Umbai according to the local and personally, I do agree with them. The place was packed with cars and people from everywhere (of sourse it was school holiday). It was worth waiting because the ikan bakar, stim fish, garlic butter prawns, deep fried squid along with nasi lemak, otak-otak were amazing! seriously! If any of you guys are going to Melaka, make sure you check it out the place! Here are some of the pictures and great moments....

The last day before we headed back to KL, we tour Melaka city covering Bandar Hilir area. For lunch we stopped at Asam Pedas Selera Kampung. It was super delicious! Everyone gave good review about the restaurant. A great place to be..

There is another restaurant recommended by the locals. The name of the restaurant is Restoren Tiga Lima. Same area but different street. For sure will check it out on our next trip.

Hong Kong at its best

March 2012 - Our story to HK, Asia's World City. It was my second time in HK and the first time for my family. The kids were so excited as the trip will cover interesting places such as HK Disneyland, Madame Tussaud and the Peak. It was hot during the day and very cool and nice at night. The trip to HK this time was the first with family. Massive smile on the kids' faces.

Shopping? make sure you have HK Dollars filling your pockets... HK is just like Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and any other shopping cities where lots of shopping malls and designers boutiques can be found around the prime area. One best about HK is the night markets. Shopping for souvenirs and stuff, we can proceed to ladies market, stanley market, temple street market and for sports can go to sports street. We did not have enough time to visit the branded factory outlet, maybe next time. We spent most of our time at the night markets. From Mongkok MTR Station, just walk and walk and walk explored the area..

Sightseeing and interesting places? the double-decker bus for sightseeing was very cool for us as we managed to tour the city of HK all in and out. You can hop on and stop at any of its station during the tour but must make sure of the timing for the last bus to pick you up. We went to HK Disneyland, Exploring the Peak, the tram, visited Madame Tussaud, Arena of Stars and Harbour View.

Halal food? Halal food is not a problem in HK. We can get many halal restaurants own by the Arabs, Pakistanis, Indian Muslims, Bangladeshis in HK especially near the mosque and shopping area in Kowloon and some Indonesians market and restaurants in HK Island. There are also quite a number of Halal Chinese Muslim Restaurants in HK Island (Islamic Centre Canteen) and Kowloon area. Another best thing is we can dine in Halal Restaurant in HK Disneyland (certified by HK Islamic Board). The best is @ Chungkin House where there are two Indian/Pakistan smalls shops selling bariyani rice, "teh tarik", white rice, tandoori chicken and etc. There are also Istanbul Kebab near to Holiday Inn Hotel @ Nathan road but we did not have the chance to eat halal dim sum halal and varities of chinese muslim recipes @ Shaik Omar Mosque located in Wan Chai. Next time then... hahahahaha..

Children friendly? Yes, definately! HK is a family destination. Kids must love it here as HK has many things to offer.

Transportation? the public transport is excellent, just like in Singapore. No problem to get a taxi, anytime, anywhere. The MTR (like our Putra LRT, Underground in UK, Subway in America) goes everywhere, very convienient, stroller friendly and even the terminals, stations are very clean and easy to move around. What we do is just, get the MTR map and you are ready to go. Another thing, buy Octopus card at the airport/nearest train station. Very useful and cheap fare. We can use it for train, bus, ferry, The Peak and airport express. The kids were so impressed to see the tram in HK Island.

A place that we will make a return one day....

11 best nasi kandar spots (according to us laa...). 1st installment.

This is just our personal view and opinion, the 11 best here does not represent the official rank and any opinion of any official organization, association and group of people. To know, go and discover..

The word Nasi Kandar, came about from a time when nasi hawkers would kandar pole on their shoulder with two huge containers of rice meals. The name has remained and today the word Nasi Kandar is seen on most mamak restaurants/Indian-Muslim stall meals.
Traditionally, nasi kandar is always served with its side dishes on a single plate. Nowadays, small bowls are used for the side dishes. Nevertheless, the curry sauce mix is always poured directly onto the rice. kuah campur aaaa macha...! Extremely best! even after eating, your hands can still smells curry. Journey to Darul Khusus (N9)

16/3/2013 - We embarked on the very last minute journey to explore the traditional Minang food in Restoren Warisan, Kuala Pilah (16/3). Seriously, it was worth a journey, almost a 2-hour drive from KL to taste the best Keli Masak Lomak (RM 15.00 per plate) and Pucuk Ubi Masak Lemak Tempoyak (RM 15.00 per plate) (what we ordered). It was our first time in this area. The staff were so pleasant, the service was very fast and of course the taste of the food was awesome! The price is very reasonable too. Moreover, the place also offers variety of Thai food.

Darul Khusus is famous for its Daging Salai Masak Lemak, no wonder we could also see many stalls selling smoked catfish, smoked meat, smoked chicken and duck along our way to the place.

Even though the place was not so crowded during the time we were there for lunch but seriously the food and the environment were great. The surrounding (the padi field), the landscape and definitely the Bali style open toilet were superb and clean.

The restaurant

If you guys crave for a kampung style dining and great Minang cuisine at its origin with its traditional cook, set off to Restoren Warisan (Coordinate: N2 44.764 E102 08.960) even we know that there are many great Minang restaurants in KL such as Salero Nogori (Amcorp Mall,PJ), Restoren Kak Ros (Kg. Pandan) and Raso Omak Den (Setapak/Danau).

Here are some of the pictures that we would like to share, our great moment at the restaurant and the area...
